Jeevie Facial Masks are made entirely from natural, plant-based ingredients used in South Asian skincare for centuries. We use no water, no preservatives, and no synthetic additives. Since our masks are powdered, there's no water for bacteria to grow in, which means we never need parabens to preserve them.

Why We Skip Parabens, Silicones, and Drying Alcohol
Great skincare comes down to three things: effective ingredients, low stress, and consistency. Our masks are formulated to nourish skin and deliver a noticeable difference over time, without the additives common in mainstream skincare.
Three ingredients in particular show up often in products designed to be layered (so the top layer dries fast enough to apply makeup over it):
- Parabens are artificial preservatives that can cause skin irritation and, in some cases, contact dermatitis.
- Silicones create a silky texture and short-term hydration but can trap comedogenic (blackhead-causing) substances against the skin, especially for breakout-prone skin.
- Drying alcohol is a cheap, fast-drying solvent that strips moisture and disrupts the skin barrier.
These ingredients often appear on packaging as long, unfamiliar chemical names, which makes it easy for consumers to be drawn in by a product's scent or texture without knowing what's actually in it.
Skin Purging vs. an Adverse Reaction: How to Tell the Difference
Purging is a temporary skin response where a product draws out existing gunk and bacteria, causing it to surface as acne. This is a normal, short-lived sign that the product is working.
An adverse reaction is different: significant breakouts, itching, irritation, or real discomfort. If that's what you're experiencing, it's not purging; it's a reaction to an ingredient, often a synthetic chemical or additive.
A pleasant scent isn't proof a product is safe or effective. Many skincare products contain artificial fragrance, which is a documented cause of dermatitis. For more on this, see the National Eczema Association's guide: Fragrance and Perfume Allergy and Eczema FAQ.
What to Expect When You Use a Jeevie Facial Mask
We're fully transparent about what's in our formulas. There are no hidden ingredients. Before first use, do the forearm allergy test described on your packaging. After your first wash-off, you'll notice softer skin immediately; with consistent use, the results become visible over time. Always wash off your facial mask in the shower!
A Note on Medical Conditions
Jeevie Facial Masks are not a substitute for medication. Some dermatological conditions require real medical treatment, and reducing stress and chemical exposure isn't always enough on its own. If you're dealing with a significant skin issue, see a dermatologist. Our masks may complement a prescribed treatment plan. Check with your doctor if you have concerns about interactions.
